Professional Development: Online Courses

Registration Terms of Use

1. Participating Members must agree to participate in Key Curriculum Press’ Online Courses at will and to release Key Curriculum Press (Key) from liability for instructional, technical, operational, and ethical problems that arise in the course of using Online Courses.

2. Key does not guarantee access from all computers or with all browsers and software. Online Course asset performance varies with the speed of individual computers and the speed of the Web connectivity. Key makes no warranties as to Online Course asset performance or its compatibility with the computer hardware, networking software, or connectivity software of a school or its individual teachers. Participating Individuals agree to accept the technology and all files used within the course "as is."

3. Participating Members agree:

  • not to post their Key Online username and password information on the Web or publicly in any other way (such as in classrooms or in a school bulletin available outside the school),
  • not to distribute any username and password information to others on or off the school site, and
  • not to post or distribute any files or content used within the courses to others on or off the school site, and
  • to report repeated misuse of Online Course content and access privileges to Key.

4. Academic Credit: Two semester units of Professional-level academic credit are available through the University of California, Berkeley Extension for an additional fee. The credit is the equivalent of 30 hours. Your course syllabus explains the requirements necessary to receive academic credit. Your course moderator will announce the opportunity to sign-up for academic credit when the course officially opens. Only after receiving instructions from the course moderator are you allowed to enroll into academic credit. You will have until the day before the course closes to sign-up for academic credit. When you have successfully completed the course with a ‘C’ or better and paid the additional fee, you may request a copy of your transcripts at www.unex.berkeley.edu/info/transcript.php. Your transcripts will display, both a letter grade and a pass/fail.

5. CEUs: Participants are eligible for CEU credits from most states and school districts. States and districts, however, have their own requirements, so please check with your district or state professional development office to determine if our course meets their requirements.

6. Certificate of Completion: All participants who obtain a 'C' or better will receive a Certificate of Completion from Key Curriculum Press indicating they have successfully completed 30 hours of Professional Development.

7. Withdrawal Policy: Tuition is non-refundable. If you withdraw from a course before or during the first week of instruction, you can make up the course at no additional cost for one year following the original course start date. If you do not use your credit during this time or if you withdraw after the first week of a course, your tuition is forfeited. For more information or to withdraw from your course, please email the Online Course Administrator at abala@keypress.com. When you are ready to make up the course, please contact the Online Course Administrator to schedule it; you do not need to re-register. Please note that once you have scheduled your make-up course with us, we cannot reschedule it.

8. System Requirements: Mac or PC platform; High-speed Internet access; Internet Explorer browser for PC or Safari or Firefox browser for Mac; Enabled cookies; QuickTime Player; Adobe® Reader®; Adobe Flash Player; either Fathom Dynamic Data, version 2.1 or later, or The Geometer's Sketchpad, version 4.0 or later. Note: This course does not include software. You must purchase Fathom or Sketchpad if necessary.

9. Cancellation of Access: Failure of the Participating Individual to substantially comply with the Terms of Use, as determined solely by Key, may result in revocation of Online Courses.
